It wasn’t about analyzing the smallest details to make it sound well. It was all about experimenting, defragmenting pieces of audio and small moments of distortion. I think the group learned from it that it’s not always about the end result. Sometimes it’s better to not know yet what it’s going to be, so you can work from a surprise as a base.

A base is not always calculated, just like me. I can be flat, but I can also consist of mountains. Sometimes I make space and create a cave. Projects can just be like that. It can have mountains and caves. And I hope that the social group will keep exploring what they are able to make, and not always stay flat everywhere. I think they are going to surprise themselves if they keep experimenting!

I’m the ground. I’m always at the bottom of your feet. I’m solid and stable. I know what I want and I’m direct of character, always giving my honest opinion. If you show me your respect, I will respect you as well. I always joke about myself being Dutch, because my directness can come across as quite rude sometime. But don’t worry, I’m very nice.

I also have a lot of knowledge about different human cultures, because all the humans in the world use me as their base to stand on. Through their feet, I can sense honesty and dishonesty. As I already said, I’m very direct and truth-telling. Now, let me tell you a story.

I was feeling this Social Practice subgroup walking around. They were discussing the assignment. They had to merge their own ideas into one and make a project out of it. I could really tell that they were all kind of lost. They didn’t know what would be interesting to do and they also found it very difficult that it’s not about having a perfect project, but about the social stimulation and the part of merging creative parts together. They were stressing and walking in circles.

Suddenly, they were developing an idea together without even realizing it. So they started experimenting with audio and music, and began to merge audio together and to distract it again.
